What You’ll Be Doing

The Director, Portfolio Management will support the US PF&I Portfolio Management team and work with team lead on a loan book in the Renewable, Midstream, Energy Transition and Infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will be flexible to work hours as needed to help deliver a great client experience, which may include evenings and weekends.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Participate in the completion of periodic reviews of current exposures, ensuring that they are completed and submitted to Credit Risk Management so that those reviews can be adjudicated within relevant deadlines

  • Support borrower requests, waivers and amendments (in consultation with Credit Risk Management)

  • Ongoing reporting and compliance with Credit Risk Management requirements including semi annual and annual portfolio reviews, periodic construction updates etc.

  • Coordinate the preparation of materials for, and oversee the presentation of, PF&I credits at quarterly High-Risk Review

  • In coordination with CIBC’s Agency team, monitor deals where CIBC is Administrative Agent for compliance with reporting covenants, financial covenants, cash sweep requirements, events of default, etc.

  • Ensure required communication with lenders is provided on a timely basis including the posting of information to secure deal websites

  • Driving improvements in the quality of US PF&I’s management information systems, including optimizing portfolio reporting, aggregating exposures by client etc.

  • Assist the US Head of Project Finance & Infrastructure in preparing for annual Client Planning meetings

  • Coordinate the US PF&I team’s response to requests from internal or external auditors, examiners, regulators etc.

  • Where required, liaising with CIBC’s Special Loans unit in the management of distressed credits

  • Ongoing management, mentoring and training of analyst, associate and director level staff within the team.

Who You Are

  • Requires strong work ethic, with attention to detail and creative problem-solving and excellent customer service/relationship skills

  • Team Player- ability to work in a dynamic team environment where priorities are shifting frequently.

  • Ability to influence discussions and negotiations with other banks, advisors, and Borrowers.

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required with a focus in finance or economics. MBA or Engineering background is a plus.

  • Excellent English language skills with solid technical writing skills (financial & risk assessments).

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of USD$200,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
