Looking for a Senior Construction Manager for Memphis

The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting multiple projects of a complex nature, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel. Project activities are related to the construction and maintenance of Industrial projects. Participates in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversees its organization, scheduling, and implementation. Assists with marketing for the infrastructure division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the organization, scheduling, and implementation of construction projects

  • Directs and supervises the work of the Assistant Construction Manager

  • Determines labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites

  • Assures proper administration of all project payments

  • Directs and supervises the work of colleagues on the construction sites

  • Conducts project progress meetings on a weekly basis

  • Studies job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods

  • Implements and maintains quality control programs

  • Communicates with inspectors regarding proper interpretation of specifications

  • Communicates with engineers regarding intent of plans or specifications

  • Responds to client suggestions and complaints on a timely basis and ensures resolution of such suggestions and complaints

  • Maintains communication with client regarding progress and project issues

  • Resolves contractual disputes between owner and contractor

  • Attends trade shows to keep up on trends in the industry

  • Serves as a member of professional trade groups

  • Engages in self-education and training in order to keep up with current industry trends and changes

  • Performs responsibilities consistent with ethical engineering standards in the company handbook

  • Writes staff reports, letters, and reports on construction activities at office or at job site if needed

  • May train and mentor Construction Manager I and II

An ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with ten years of experience OR Technical school graduate with twelve years of experience

  • Experience specifically in Construction Management

  • Possession of a valid state-issued Driver’s License and required auto insurance

  • Thorough knowledge of state and/or local construction and building guidelines

  • Thorough knowledge of construction practices relating to roadway reconstruction, rehabilitation, and pavement management
