Job Description - Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager will oversee all aspects of the construction project and is responsible for managing the customer satisfaction, project costs, trade partners, and a safe on-time completion that meets or exceeds the long-term Energy performance objectives. Bernhard is the prime contractor and works directly with the Owner to deliver our EaaS solution. The Senior Project Manager is the lead on site representative for Bernhard. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment through maintaining safety meetings, incident investigations, and employee involvement.
  • Responsible for managing the installation of Energy as a Service projects that meet or exceed the required objectives, on time, and within budget.
  • Manage the overall project schedule and ensure that it meets or exceeds the project objectives.
  • Manage the overall project budget and set up job costing system with labor, material, and subcontract cost codes.
  • Manage, build, and maintain strong relationships with the General contractors, trade partners, and internal customers that will be working on the EaaS delivery team.
  • Negotiate and prepare vendor purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Conduct monthly reports and cost reviews to catch deviations from a plan or schedule early and keep all participants and stakeholders informed to bring the job in on time and under budget.
  • Evaluate and develop personnel including project managers, superintendents, and assistant project managers.
This position is Full Time, Exempt, and reports to the Project Executive - Prime Division. Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of verifiable experience in LARGE ($20M+) commercial construction (Higher education, healthcare, advanced technology, life sciences, office buildings, etc.).
  • Design build experience is a plus.
  • 4-year degree in Construction Management (or related field) AND applicable field work experience in Bernhard's core markets.
  • Experience with pull planning and Last Planner System.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (Procore or similar), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Travel Requirements
  • 50% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
