We have an immediate need for a Senior Project Geologist to manage the technical execution and lead field components of environmental investigation and remediation projects for Federal customers throughout the mid-Atlantic region and elsewhere within the US.
What you'll be doing:
- leading scoping and planning of field investigation/sampling events by developing the technical approach and serving as lead author of project planning documents
- oversee and mentor junior staff to ensure that all field forms, equipment, and materials are assembled
- support project managers with procurement of subcontractors required for project (develop subcontractor scopes of work and procurement documents)
- lead field teams as appropriate by providing oversight of junior staff during collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, or waste stream samples for laboratory analysis
- provide oversight of subcontractors during soil boring and monitoring well installations, geophysical surveys, and land surveying
- log soil borings and bedrock cores
- support operations and maintenance of remedial systems
- assist in and manage report preparation
- provide professional report review to ensure quality specifications are achieved
What you'll need:
Required:
- Bachelor's or higher in Geology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related
- 8+ years of experience in environmental services, site investigation, and/or remediation with an emphasis on planning and executing field investigations and associated reporting
- Experience with environmental compliance with Federal regulations (CERCLA, CAA, CWA, OPA, SWDA, RCRA) and/or state regulations
- Ability to lead a team including oversight and mentoring of junior staff, management of subcontractors, and delegation of work assignments
- Current OSHA 40-hour training for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and current OSHA 8-hour Refresher HAZWOPER training
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe skills
- Ability and willingness to undertake frequent travel (25-50%) when required, including the potential for occasional extended travel (multiple weeks)
Preferred:
- Experience working for Department of Defense and other Federal agencies and local state environmental agencies
- Licensure in field (PG, PE, EIT, LSP, LEP, LSRP, etc.)
- OSHA 30-hour Outreach (General Industry), OSHA 8-hour HAZWOPER Supervisor (Initial), and USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM) courses
- Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) experience
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED/Bloodborne Pathogen certification
