Salary: $36.79 - $46.53 Hourly

Description:

Under limited supervision, supervises and coordinates the activities of well technician crew involved in the operation, construction, maintenance, and repair of the City of Logan automated and mechanized water and wastewater systems, including: wells, springs, booster pumps, tanks, SCADA, water quality monitoring, chlorine treatment systems, wastewater lift stations, wastewater metering flumes, and other duties as assigned by the Division Manager or Public Works Director.

Qualifications:

High School GED or equivalent. Must have at least five (5) years of experience with SCADA systems OR be a licensed Journeyman Electrician with five (5) years of experience. Must have at least three (3) years of experience in supervisory/management positions.

Ability to read and understand construction plans and technical reports is required.

Must possess or be able to obtain Water Distribution IV, and Wastewater Collection IV from the State of Utah within 12 months from date of hire. The City will schedule the tests and provide study material.

Knowledge of Schneider Electric Geo SCADA software is preferred. Must be able to operate controls of vehicle, repeatedly using wrists and hands. Ability to work in extreme hot and cold environmental conditions. Must be capable of lifting in excess of 75 pounds without adverse consequences. Must be able to climb in and out of vehicles repeatedly.

Must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies within 30 minutes while "on-call."

Responsibilities:

Plans, prioritizes, schedules, assigns, supervises and reviews the work of well technicians involved in water and wastewater maintenance, repair and construction work. Maintains water/wastewater SCADA system.

Cooperates with the Water Engineer to determine projects and improvements that enhance the capture, treatment, storage, and distribution of water and the measurement and conveyance of wastewater. Participates in the selection of staff.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Characteristics:

Knowledge of materials, practices and equipment used in water distribution and wastewater collection systems operations, maintenance and repair activities.

Knowledge of municipal/industrial electrical equipment and practices, including troubleshooting on electric motors and monitoring devices. Knowledge of the elements of construction technology as they relate to the assigned maintenance and repair activities. Knowledge of Work Order type computer programs.

Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Google equivalents, and other general computer knowledge is required.

Knowledge of State of Utah Division of Drinking Water Rules and Regulations.

Knowledge of radio communications.

Knowledge of GIS, GPS, and data management.

Knowledge of basic hydraulic calculations and principles, including pumps and control valves.

Knowledge of the uses and capabilities of various water/wastewater system maintenance and construction related equipment. Experience in the production, conveyance, and storage of water or conveyance of wastewater is preferred.

Knowledge of expense tracking and fiscal responsibility.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee supervision and training.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, contractors, co-workers and the general public. Skill in communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
