Job Description - Account Underwriter

Reporting Line: AVP. Account Underwriting Manager

Job Purpose: Achieve retention and profitability targets through providing first class service to portfolio of assigned policyholders, managing agent relationships and the commercial underwriting of renewal business of assigned portfolio. Portfolio will consist of SME, Core policyholders and direct broker policies. Fosters efficiencies within the Direct Sales Force team by taking on special projects and duties as required for regional retention success.

Key Responsibilities:

•Answers customer requests over the phone or email on various topics across all core functions with a sense of urgency.

•Works closely with the Direct Sales Force and broker partners to accurately expedite renewal business application input with offshore partners. Reach targets of portfolio growth and quality

•Profitably renew existing policies

•Identify cross- and up-selling opportunities

•Provide commercial underwriting oversight

•Take personal responsibility for the implementation of group-wide quality of service standards

•Service customer segments based on operational standards

•Interact closely with other core functions

•Apply commercial underwriting standards to ensure profitability and quality of customer portfolio

•Take ownership of special projects and sales agent servicing needs for the Direct Sales Force channel and Direct Broker channel as needed.

•Manages a large portfolio of policies with key responsibilities to include: Communication with the Direct Sales Force and broker partners in regards to policy renewal changes, policy construction & policy distribution

•Responsible for managing collection of past due invoices and other policy items for assigned portfolio

•Identifies process improvements based on exposure to client issues and concerns that directly impact retention

•Support implementation of Voice of the Customer initiatives in the region.

Key Requirements:

•Bachelor's Degree in related field

•B2B account management experience preferred

•Previous short term trade credit commercial underwriting experience preferred

•Ability to profitably retain policyholders and build long-term relationships

•Ability to build strong relationships with agent producers located in region which results in strong renewal business production

Key Experience:

•Expert know-how in specifics of market

•Ability to build extensive networks with close contacts to agents, market players and opinion leaders

•2-4 years of customer service or account management experience

Key Skills:

•Ability to liaise with members of other core functions

•Ability to convince customers in negotiations
