10-months; 196 days JOB SUMMARY & PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS REPORTS TO: Manager - Food Service DEPARTMENT NAME: Food & Nutrition Services JOB SUMMARY (2-3 sentences): Receives and disburses money by selling food to students and staff. Responsible for operating the cash register and maintaining the serving line. Works under general supervision according to some procedures; decides how and when to complete tasks. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: List, in the order of time spent, the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required. Job Responsibility 1: Receives payment by cash, vouchers, or automatic debits. Issues receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers. Job Responsibility 2: Assists with preparation and packaging of food items; ensures food temperature and portion sizes are appropriate. Job Responsibility 3: Stocks and rotates food items displayed for sale on the serving line. Job Responsibility 4: Maintains clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties, such as cleaning serving area and storing unused food items. Stocks shelves and marks prices. Job Responsibility 5: Answers customers' questions, and provides information on procedures or policies. Job Responsibility 6: Assists customers by providing information and resolving their complaints. Processes returns and exchanges. Job Responsibility 7: Identifies prices of goods and tabulates bills using cash registers or optical price scanners. Job Responsibility 8: Balances sales to monies receives. Completes reports. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES, REQUIREMENTS, AND IMPACTS DATA RESPONSIBILITY : " Data Responsibility" refers to information, knowledge, and conceptions obtained by observation, investigation, interpretation, visualization, and mental creation. ASSETS RESPONSIBILITY : " Assets Responsibility" refers to the responsibility for achieving economies or preventing loss within the organization. Requires some responsibility for achieving minor economies and/or preventing minor losses through the handling of or accounting for materials, supplies, or small amounts of money. MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS : " Mathematics" deals with quantities, magnitudes, and forms and their relationships and attributes by the use of numbers and symbols. Uses addition and subtraction such as making change. COMMUNICATIONS REQUIREMENTS : " Communications" involves the ability to read, write, and speak. Reads simple sentences or instructions; writes simple sentences; speaks simple sentences using basic grammar. COMPLEXITY OF WORK : " Complexity of Work" addresses the analysis, initiative, ingenuity, creativity, and concentration required by the position and the presence of any unusual pressures. Performs semi-routine work following procedures, with occasional problems; requires normal attention for accurate results. IMPACT OF DECISIONS : " Impact of Decisions" refers to consequences such as damage to property, loss of data or property, exposure of the organization to legal liability, or injury or death to individuals. Makes decisions with minor impact - affects only those in immediate work area. EQUIPMENT USAGE : "Equipment Usage" refers to inanimate objects such as substances, materials, machines, tools, equipment, work aids, or products. A thing is tangible and has shape, form, and other physical characteristics. Handles machines, equipment, or work aids involving little or no latitude for judgment regarding attainment of standard or in selecting appropriate items, such as cash registers and some commercial kitchen equipment. SAFETY OF OTHERS : " Safety of Others" refers to the responsibility for other people's safety, either inherent in the job or to assure the safety of the general public. Requires some responsibility for safety and health of others and/or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS : " Education Requirements" refers to job specific training and education required for entry into the position. Requires high school diploma, GED, or vocational training. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED : " Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations" refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position. Requires none. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : " Experience Requirements" refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position. Requires three months of related experience including working with customers. Must have knowledge of arithmetic to solve problems. More specific degree, certification, and experience requirements will be included in the position announcement as vacancies occur.
