Coordinator of Translation and Interpretation Services
Salary: $72,353-$101,294 Qualifications - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with major course work in education.
- Fluent in a second language that is applicable to the Allentown School District Community.
- Master in language development and/or World Language preferred
- Completion of Interpreter Training Program certification from an accredited institution.

Summary Under general direction, oversees and coordinates interpreting and translating services. Recruits, selects, and assigns interpreters and translators providing interpretation services to schools and District's events; serves as liaison on issues pertaining to translation and interpretation services of particular needs of schools and activities in the community.

- Oversees and coordinates interpreting services and activities for multilingual families.
- Recruits, selects, mentors, schedules and assesses interpreter staff for all interpreting activities.
- Provides direction to interpreters; establishes schedules and methods for providing interpreting services; performs interpreting services for multilingual families in the educational environment.
- Develops opportunities to facilitate skill development for interpreters and translators; conducts related workshops and in-services; prepares and delivers presentations as needed.
- Conducts orientations for new interpreters and translators; responds to and resolves issues related to interpreting services.
- Serves as liaison to other departments, faculty, external agencies and professional organizations; serves as contact on issues pertaining multilingual families.
- Performs a variety of administrative support activities; maintains confidentiality, assures accuracy.
- Assists in development of annual interpreting budget, planning, and control of budget; monitors expenditures.
- Learns and applies emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.
- Participate in District efforts to increase the diversity of faculty and staff to provide language access to multilingual families; actively assists in the creation of a welcoming and inclusive work and educational environment; attend and participate in diversity, equity and inclusion trainings and events.
