What you will do:

The Revenue Dealer Agent is responsible for the regulation and enforcement of motor vehicle laws related to dealer licensing in South Dakota. The Dealer Agent will ensure the sale of motor vehicles are in compliance with the state and federal laws, verify record keeping is in accordance with state laws, and will investigate and resolve vehicle related complaints. Dealer Agents assist taxpayers, dealers, financial institutions, law enforcement, and other governmental agencies with dealer licensing questions, title and registration, and motor vehicle excise tax. This position will train new and existing dealers on laws, procedures, the dealer computer system, and assist the public with questions related to motor vehicle regulations. The agent will be part of a five-member team each covering a territory in the state. This position is based out of the Sioux Falls Department of Revenue office.

What you need:

Must possess a valid driver license. Will be required to independently travel within the State of South Dakota on a weekly basis to conduct onsite visits to motor vehicle dealerships.

The ideal candidate will have or be able to:

• knowledge of vehicle dealer operations;
• experience with title and registrations;
• motor vehicle taxation;

• enjoy speaking in front of large and small groups for training purposes;

• independently recognize and define a problem, identify the resources available to help solve the problem, create and implement viable solutions, and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties;
• exercise delegated authority to act and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance;
• organize work, set priorities, and follow-up with minimal direction; and
• use a variety of computer software systems including teams, word, and excel.
