BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The position of Associate DevSecOps Engineer is a critical part of MSC’s digital organization. This position will provide DevSecOps solutions for MSC’s e-commerce team, helping them towards successful agile software delivery. This position will work independently and collaboratively with MSC’s pod-based agile software engineering teams. The DevSecOps Engineer oversees platforms for software engineering productivity, monitoring, observability, cloud architecture, and release CI/CD. This position will help drive solution-level continuous improvement and best-practices for agile software delivery. The DevSecOps Engineer is accountable for ensuring adherence to CyberSecurity best practices, code quality standards, and software delivery processes.

 

Utilizing a palette of existing software frameworks, custom and best of breed systems and hybrid cloud infrastructure, there will be opportunity to create solutions that add business value and create competitive advantage for MSC. This position is expected to push internal IT and business areas to deliver best in class solutions that are incompliance with our architectures and standards. This position will also provide feedback to Solution Architects so that architectures and standards are continually progressing and advancing.

 

As a DevSecOps Engineer at MSC you will work in a team environment to develop innovative solutions to complex business problems. Utilizing R&D, rapid prototyping, and other collaborative development techniques you will create solutions that add business value and create competitive advantage for MSC. You will have the opportunity to apply your development skills in a challenging and dynamic environment utilizing leading languages and technologies.

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in and at times leads the end-to-end solution design effort, decomposing problems into their simplest forms, applying the right technologies to craft systems that will perform and scale while meeting the business requirements.
  • Works with observability tools and processes for monitoring and alerting. Works in collaboration with Site Reliability Engineering to optimize and ensure solid site coverage.
  • Works with Software Engineering leads to create optimal software delivery processes. This includes Jira workflows and best practices, Jenkins pipeline optimization, code review processes, code quality standards, and unit testing requirements.
  • Reviews metrics for software delivery processes to ensure adherence to best practices for code quality, security, and delivery.
  • Works with cloud tools and processes for software delivery.
  • Performs PoCs and MVPs of additional DevSecOps tools and processes that may help improve overall team execution.
  • Stays up to date with industry best practices for DevSecOps, secure coding, application-level CyberSecurity, observability, cloud software delivery, IaC, etc.
  • Works with pod teams to improve the implementation DevSecOps tools and processes.
  • Supports organizational commitment to continuous improvement and continuous learning.
  • Empower teams to be independent, automated, and responsible when executing on their product backlog.
  • Keeps current with new technology and techniques for solving business problems

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent experience is required.
  • Internship and/or course work in software engineering or DevSecOps.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with information and application security concepts, mechanisms, and tools.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming and functional programming concepts with knowledge of an object-oriented programming language such as Java and JavaScript required.
  • Knowledge of Cloud platforms
  • Knowledge of Cloud resources and services like Networking, Load Balancing, VMs, Containers, Caching, Health Checks, WAFs, Storage, etc
  • Strong technical aptitude

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 10% of the time are required.
