Director of Emergency Services
Location: San Antonio, TX
Shift: Full Time, Days (Rotating Weekends)
Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 with a 15% annual incentive bonus
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Emergency Services to join our team in San Antonio. In this role, you will lead our Emergency Department, ensuring high-quality patient care, effective resource management, and strong team performance. This position requires excellent leadership skills to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
Service
- Identify and solve problems affecting service quality.
- Participate in committees and communicate updates effectively.
- Enhance the patient experience in the Emergency Department.
People
- Coach and provide feedback to staff.
- Adhere to Human Resource policies.
- Share important departmental and industry information with the team.
- Foster employee engagement and build strong relationships.
- Mentor future leaders and participate in employee and patient rounding.
Quality
- Enforce emergency care standards and ensure compliance.
- Develop and evaluate programs to maintain quality patient care.
- Monitor compliance with regulations and hospital policies.
- Oversee quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the department follows safety protocols.
Finance
- Develop new program strategies to expand services.
- Manage and prioritize capital equipment requests.
- Oversee the department's budget and resource utilization.
Growth
- Drive the growth of emergency services.
Community
- Represent the department confidently within the organization and community.
- Build strategic external networks.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree (MHA, MSN, MBA, or related field) preferred.
- Experience: At least 3 years in emergency services and 3 years in a leadership role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Current registered nurse license in Texas.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong human resource management, program development, and fiscal management skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
- Ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced environment and hold staff accountable.
- Clinical competence to assist staff when needed.
- Comfortable working in a smaller facility and managing multiple responsibilities.
- Awareness of increasing behavioral health population and extended hold times.
