Performs various tasks associated with food preparation, service and sanitation. Prepares food in advance, according to basic recipes for utilization in food production or service areas. Serves internal of external customers. Performs similar services in other areas of the department for which cross training has occurred. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.
Principle Accountabilities: % Of Time Spent
1. Food Preparation. 35%
a. Prepares ingredients in advance according to ordered quantities to provide cooks needed ingredients for recipe preparation or other areas product to serve at a later time.
b. Cooks foods that are usually single ingredient foods per basic recipe.
c. Utilizes basic techniques such as slicing, grilling, deep frying, microwaving, or similar single activities not requiring multiple recipe steps.
d. Follows basic recipes to prepare/assemble salads and sandwiches.
e. Stocks area with designated products.
f. Assists with processing product delivery, stocking, & distribution of requisitioned items when necessary.
g. Ensures product quality and presentation meets standards. Reports deviations immediately.
h. Ensures ample product is available per established par level. Reports need for additional product immediately.
2. Provides service to customers (both internal and external) per area specific standards. 30%
a. Properly sets up serving area according to orders/guidelines
b. Assembles orders accurately. Adheres to indicated portions, preferences and restrictions.
c. Maintains presentation standards and proper plating of food.
d. Adheres to customer service standards. Ensures good customer relations and solves problems positively
3.Knowledge of Cash Register, Espresso Machines, PC Applications, Computrition, 20%cooking equipment as appropriate to perform job responsibilities.
a. Adheres to policies and standards associated with processes related to job responsibilities.
4.Maintains food safety, personal safety, safe and sanitary work area. 5%
a. Follows the HACCP guidelines when handling food. Ensures food is maintained under proper conditions during all stages of production & storage.
b. Adheres to sanitation standards of personal hygiene such as proper hand hygiene.
c. Adheres to sanitation standards for equipment, floors, and work surfaces according to the Master Cleaning Schedule to meet requirements of all regulatory agencies.
d. Ensures that all refuse material is properly removed from the department.
e. Reports all unsafe situations and injuries to a supervisor immediately
5. Personal Effectiveness
a. Attends all in-service for the Department.
b. Participates in working towards attaining department goals & targets
c. Works well with change makes suggestions for improvement. Gives feedback & input.
d. Communicates information clearly & in timely manner.
e. Ensures good teamwork relations between production and other areas. .
f. Address problems with appropriate person. Resolves problems positively.
g. Utilizes time & supplies effectively. 5%
6. Cross trained to other areas including Catering, Production and Retail. Performs other work duties as assigned. 5%

High school graduate or GED preferred.
1. Food Sanitation Certification preferred. 2. Must be able to read, write and able to follow directions. The assessment, care and treatment provided by Food and Nutrition Services will be consistent with the specific age related needs of the patient. Food and Nutrition Services is competent to provide nutritional care for patient age groups including neonates/infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric adults.
