Description of Work:

Nebraska Public Media is seeking a Video Game Producer to help us explore the frontiers of public media in Nebraska through fun, interactive projects. As a part of Nebraska Public Media's emerging media initiative, this producer will have the opportunity to integrate storytelling and game mechanics while working with technologies not traditionally associated with Public Media. Specifically, the Game Producer is responsible for content and product leadership in producing video game experiences across web, mobile, head-mounted displays and console platforms. The producer will provide leadership and direction for artists, game engine developers and production assistants, and productions may involve collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

This individual is directly responsible for taking an attitude of ownership toward game products within Nebraska Public Media, contributing to the overall vision of the product and managing the production process in support of the overall vision, including: collaborating and coordinating ideation, project tracking, managing all internal/external product communications and product deliverables, overseeing milestone reviews, collaboration with other business units, production/content approvals, and external stakeholder management.

This position will work within a lab-like environment. Ideas may initially originate with an individual but are elevated and incubated by the group. Minimum Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree with major in communications, design, game design, emerging media arts, the humanities, computer science or related field plus one (1) year of experience in the production of video games for public media. Experience with generative AI tools to augment creative processes and create efficiencies in workflows. Familiarity with the necessity and use of game engine software, specifically Unity and Unreal, to create interactive experiences. Knowledge of current trends in the development of spatial media (VR, AR, xR). Demonstrated ability to give constructive critiques of creative work based on the goals of the project and limitations of the technology. and guide design modifications accordingly. Experience effectively communicating complex research concepts to writers for script-writing and narration. Proficiency in office productivity software (Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Google Drive, Slack, Discord, Zoom). Strong design, oral and written communication skills. Good customer service skills. Ability to: work creatively and constructively with outside partners; be detail oriented and organized, to deliver projects on time;

multi-task, work independently but also follow direction; communicate as an authority but also work as a team member.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three (3) years of related experience. Experience effectively communicating complex concepts from the humanities for a broad audience via interactive media. Knowledge of current trends in electronic game design. Knowledge of one or more social VR platforms (VRChat, FaceBook Horizons). Understanding of the intersection between game development and traditional media outlets (e.g., the New York Times).

Posted Salary: $45,000 yr. minimum
