Job Description - Hotel Assistant Manager

My Place Hotel- America's Newest Brand and Best Hotel in Moab, UT!

This Assistant Manager position is a Full-time Position that includes evening and weekend shifts. Typical schedule is Monday/Thursday/Friday 1pm-9pm and Saturday/Sunday 9am-5pm with flexibility to cover occasional 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am Night Audit shifts. Our amazing team is the reason guests keep coming back! Our Assistant managers are expected to do the following:

The Assistant Manager assists the General Manager in providing high quality, courteous, efficient service to all guests, executes delegated responsibilities in employee training, scheduling, record-keeping, report preparation and guest relations and serves as the General Manager on duty when assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assists the General Manager in ensuring that all policies and procedures, federal state and local ordinances regarding personnel wage, safety and security are followed.
  2. Works along with the lead room attendant, maintenance supervisor and General Manager in monthly risk management meetings/checks to ensure safety of guests and employees of the Company.
  3. Participates in marketing activities such as the General Manager's sales action plan (i.e. cold calls, appointments, phone follow-ups, letters, CVB and chamber events. Working with the General Manager on sales leads/bids from CVB).
  4. Ability to perform guest services representative job functions.
  5. Ability to perform laundry job functions.
  6. Group sales set-up along with the General Manger including sending out group sales contracts and wedding blocks.
  7. Daily check of the nightly audit, closing out credit cards, balancing daily room revenue, confirming the nightly audit was done correctly and all accounts balance.
  8. Balances daily reports with audits.
  9. Checks cash drawer for accuracy and maintains balance of coinage/bills. Accounts for daily bank deposits and drops deposits at bank. Files bank deposit slips in audit. Submits corporate call report to corporate office.
  10. Along with the General Manager, takes care of guest reviews and relations in a timely fashion.
  11. Will be on call during set times to ensure hotel runs smoothly. May also be required to call or stop in at property to ascertain that all is well.
  12. In balance with the General Manager, does a continuing evaluation of the front desk employees to ensure that the level of performance ways in accordance to the Company/Brand standards. Retrains and corrects staff when necessary.
  13. Does weekly billing of direct bill accounts and checks/balances for those accounts.
  14. Assists General Manager with ideas that will motivate and increase morale of employees.
  15. Will be responsible for all reports, daily and weekly in the absence of the General Manager.
  16. Will be responsible for inventory of front desk supplies.
  17. Will be responsible for taking weekly/monthly/ inventory of hotel items as needed.
  18. Will accept front desk duties and responsibilities of the General Manager in their absence.

Job Requirements

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent multi-task and organization skills.
  • Good understanding of engineering principles.
  • Must be reliable, professional, consistent, and serious about the tasks at hand.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Performs additional duties or responsibilities delegated by the General Manager.

Physical Demands

  • Able to drive a vehicle
  • Able to inspect all of the hotel premises
  • Able to assist guests in emergency situations
  • Able to perform duties of all hotel positions
  • Required to walk, stand, push, pull, carry, lift, kneel, read, and bend while performing the duties of this job. Also required to remain on their feet for long periods of time and to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs.

Licenses or Certification

  • Valid driver's license
  • Insurability for driving

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and work ethic

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position will assist in supervision of all staff

Travel

  • Some travel could be required for this position

Safety Requirements

Must be aware and conform to all safety requirements when in the facility, operating motor vehicles, or in the field performing duties for the company.

  • Job Type: Full-time / non-exempt
  • Pay Rate : $52,000 Annual salary and up based on experience
  • Quarterly Bonus: Based on performance
