POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Mint Dispensary is currently seeking a talented Licensing & Compliance Manager. This position will be based out of our Tempe, AZ headquarters, but will deal with multi-states. We are looking for an enthusiastic problem solver and effective cross-functional communicator who can work collaboratively with our operations team to ensure compliance with licensing and compliance requirements. Ideal candidates will possess knowledge and experience with industry-specialized third-party seed-to-sale tracking systems (i.e. METRC, BioTrack, MJPlatform, LeafLogix, etc), the ability to apply and interpret laws, regulations, and licensing requirements, and have previous experience auditing, identifying, and resolving compliance issues.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct regular audits of operational facilities as well as records related thereto to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs to ensure compliance while educating operations team members of the applicable rules and regulations that drive their daily duties and responsibilities.
- Analyze, communicate, and oversee implementation of new rules and regulations in coordination with operations team to ensure continued compliance.
- Develop, deliver, and maintain compliance training for new hires and support continuing education requirements.
- Assist in drafting and updating SOPs to ensure compliance with all applicable Local, State and, where applicable, Federal regulations.
- Coordinate with marketing team to confirm that all packaging and labeling, as well as marketing and advertising, is compliant prior to distribution.
- Maintain all active business licenses – including filing of renewal applications and business modifications.
- Assist with and at times lead inspections from Regulatory Authorities, local jurisdictions and/or law enforcement.
- Research and provide guidance on city, county and state cannabis licensing requirements and regulations at the direction of the executive team.
- Draft and/or coordinates local and state license and permit applications.
- Understand the complexity of compliance requirements governing the businesses, including the following types of regulatory agencies: Arizona Department of Health Services, Department of Revnue, Department of Agriculture, OSHA, Fire Department(s), City/County Zoning and Planning Department(s), and more.
- Partner with operations team members to provide real-time remote and onsite compliance support.
- Ensure corrective actions are adequate and are timely implemented for all identified compliance deficiencies whether a result of internal, third-party, or regulatory audits or investigations.
- Compile and submit regulatory documents for review and approval, including but not limited to: Plan(s) of Correction, Facility Modification Requests, Approval to Operate Applications, Information Update(s), Facility Agent and Dispensary Agent Application(s), and Permit & License Renewal Applications.
- Assist with the implementation of company policies, standard operating procedures and performance standards.
- Other duties as assigned by executive team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or applicable work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of compliance/operations/regulatory experience in a highly regulated industry, including but not limited to cannabis, alcohol, pharmaceuticals, or manufacturing.
- Previous experience in Arizona cannabis industry a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Must have the ability to develop and foster strong working relationships throughout all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills; the ability to either predict and/or identify and drive problem/issue to resolution in partnership with stakeholders.
- Prior experience managing and drafting permit and license applications.
- Excellent people and communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to successfully explain complex matters and provide persuasive support for positions with internal staff, regulators, outside partners and to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to successfully manage a high-volume workload with tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented and ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities.
- Capable of handling confidential information discreetly and professionally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Foundational and working knowledge of Arizona Cannabis laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with industry-specialized third-party seed-to-sale tracking systems (i.e. METRC, BioTrack, MJPlatform, LeafLogix, etc).
