Your Role With Us:

  • Performs a variety of complex repairs, maintenance, installations, and modifications to hospital equipment and buildings including repairs to mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems such as boilers, chillers, medical gas, emergency power generators, building controls and fire alarms.
  • Completes assigned maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and hospital standards.
  • Responds to and resolves emergency situations on systems and equipment.
  • Performs watch standing activities on hospital building and equipment.
  • Provides on-call rotation availability.
  • Maintains repair and preventative maintenance history by accurately documenting maintenance and operational records in electronic maintenance management system.
  • Communicates accurate and pertinent information regarding maintenance requests to customers, co-workers and leadership in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and orders facilities maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Participates in department committees and decision-making activities.
  • Assists in training as requested. Provides assistance to co- workers and department leads as needed.
  • Keeps work areas clean and safe, picking up debris at work sites and surrounding areas.

Background/Expertise:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of building and equipment maintenance or equivalent experience required.
  • Must possess a valid Oregon driver’s license and be eligible for authorization according to Salem Health’s Fleet Safety Program policy within 4 months of hire, maintaining it thereafter.
  • Must possess a minimum of one (1)of the following:
  • Oregon Limited Maintenance Electrical license or accepted into active LME Apprenticeship Program through Salem Health
  • Limited Maintenance Electrician
  • Building Maintenance Electrician
  • General Supervising Electrician
  • Limited Supervising Electrician
  • General Journeyman Electrician
  • Limited Energy -LEA Class A
  • Journeyman Plumber
  • Building Service Mechanic- Boiler CL3 or Higher
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in hospital equipment, safety policies and emergency start-up/shutdown procedures.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the safe and proper use and operation of general maintenance equipment, power tools, and hand tools. Must have strong mechanical skills and dexterity.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and schematics as required.
  • Ability to read operation and maintenance manuals. Must be able to write legibly.
  • Must be able to update work orders on computerized maintenance program, including entering hours worked and supplies used.
  • Must possess general understanding of applicable codes and regulations
