POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will re-envision a portion of the key duties from the former Director of Extra-Curricular Community Engagement role. This position oversees public service, which is the umbrella for many key volunteerism and philanthropic projects at Duquesne University. The role reports to the Assistant Vice President for Community Engagement. This role will provide direction for campus-based volunteers, encouraging individual student engagement as well as service amongst the 200+ student organizations at the university, spearhead our Civic Engagement/DU Votes initiatives, and serve as the primary administrator of the Collaboratory engagement database.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direction for campus-based volunteers, encouraging individual student engagement as well as service amongst the 200+ student organizations at the university.
Works with 200+ student organizations to develop meaningful community-based service and philanthropic projects. Keep student organizations in compliance with all campus philanthropy and fundraising policies.
Works with individual students to design meaningful opportunities for extracurricular community engagement. Oversee the process of collecting volunteer engagement documentation from individual students and student organizations
Encourages graduate student participation in extracurricular community engagement.
Interacts with community partners to align volunteers with their specific needs.
Interfaces with Student Life (specifically commuter affairs, Greek life, student conduct, orientation, etc.) to understand their student engagement needs
Keeps updated contact information for community partners, maintaining webpage and Campus Link service data up-to-date.
Oversees the data collection, upload, and reporting processes related to the Collaboratory engagement database.
Works with the AVP and Director of CEL & Partnerships to provide impact reports to internal and external stakeholders
Supervises, trains, and supports Federal Work Study based after-school tutors. Oversee payroll process, credentialing of students for clearances, and risk management protocols for use of the university volunteer vehicles.
Oversees the interview process for the James V. Donatelli Endowed Scholarship, Coalhouse Scholarship, and Harry L. McCloskey Memorial awards as well as work with Financial Aid to identify candidates for external scholarships as they relate to service/volunteer work.
Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
1-3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
