BWXT is currently seeking a Manufacturing CNC Technician for its Advanced Technologies location in Lynchburg, VA at the BIC campus!

The position will be located in the Lynchburg, VA, Advanced Technologies office at the BIC campus and is eligible for relocation benefits. Job Description / Duties:

  • Assist in the creation of design models and detailed drawings with CNC manufacturing capabilities.
  • Perform fabrication, assembly, and inspection of mechanical components and systems using both CNC and manual milling machines and lathes.
  • Assist in the development and qualification of advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Assist in assembling prototype and production equipment.
  • Maintain and control material, chemical, and component inventories.
  • Procure and control tooling.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, machining equipment and automated equipment.
  • Operate fork trucks, lifts, and other shop equipment.
  • Inspect and characterize components.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness throughout the shop.
  • Other manufacturing support tasks as required.

 

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Need to possess a certificate/diploma in machining or a Journeyman’s card.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a machine shop environment using both CNC machines as well as manual mills/lathes.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude is necessary.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge and background in CNC programming, systems and design engineering techniques relative to the development of complex electro/mechanical tools and systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as work independently.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Pay: $52,000- $79,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $52,000 and $79,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
