Job Description - Oyster Shucker

This position is part time. Primarily Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Job Specific Requirements:

The Oyster Shucker is a Kitchen Role with a Front of House location; you must be comfortable interacting with guests regularly and working alongside servers, bartenders, runners to make a successful shift.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Set up and stocking oyster bar with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. prepping sauces, inventory oysters, updating oyster board list)
  • Shuck oysters and clams cleanly and quickly; prioritize the quality of the product
  • Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
  • Maintain a sanitary and clean work station
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Run oysters to guest's tables when necessary to ensure ticket time standards
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Some shucking experience is preferred, but not required
  • Must have weekend availability
  • Some line cook or prep cook experience is valuable, but not required
  • Teamwork mentality
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  • Ability to multitask, quickly yet thoroughly
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Have reliable means of transportation
  • Have the ability to lift and carry 10-55 lbs.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Familiar with industry’s best practices

Applicants will also be expected to be able to work on their feet for several hours at a time and lift potentially heavy objects when necessary. Prior experience is preferred, but not necessary.
