Job Description - Patient Transportation Driver

Midland Care is hiring a part-time Patient Transportation Driver to join our team at the Emporia PACE Center.

Summary:
Our Patient Transportation Drivers are responsible for safely transporting patients to and from medical appointments and PACE Center. This role requires excellent customer service skills, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.

Midland Care’s *Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)* is a not-for-profit health care program that helps people at risk for needing nursing home care who meet a level of care requirement stay in their own homes and communities.

Employment Status: Part-time | Monday - Friday | 12pm - 5pm

Pay Rate: $16/hour (salary is based on experience/requirements)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates transportation routes using the appropriate technology available.
  • Main responsibility is driving a bus, though may drive other vehicles on occasion.
  • Assists participants/patients across care settings.
  • Assists with gurney transports of patients/participants using the gurney transportation van as assigned.
  • Assists with wheelchair and ambulatory transfer between home and van, and destination and van.
  • Assists with pushing and lifting wheelchair with participant/patient in it.
  • Assists participants/patients with their medical equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, canes, etc.) as needed.
  • Documents care for frail elder participants as an extension member of the PACE interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Notes changes in participant’s/patient’s enrollees’ physical or emotional health and communicates this information to the appropriate staff person.

Requirements:

Must possess a valid Kansas or Missouri Driver’s License (within 30 days of hire for out of state licenses), current automobile liability insurance and maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets organization’s insurability standard as defined by Midland policy. These must be current at hire and remain in effect throughout employment. Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen. Must continue to pass these throughout employment. Must have a current DOT physical at all times. Availability of reliable transportation is required for this position. Due to insurance company requirements, must be 25 years of age or older.

Preferred:

  • Prior driving experience.
  • One year of experience working with a frail (elderly or disabled) population.
