Job Summary

Works under minimal supervision in an assigned area to ensure that the engineering design and the construction of all primary services and complex secondary service installations conform to DTE Energy and all other applicable standards and specifications (NEC, OSHA, ANSI, etc.) Ensures that the customer's equipment meets the minimum requirements. Acts as consultant to primary customers and provides technical assistance in the construction, operation, and maintenance of customer owned high, medium, and low voltage systems. In the event of system failure, determines the cause of the failure, the method of restoration, and prevention procedures. Directs company and/or customer personnel in service restoration. Determines billing for DTE Energy labor and materials. Coordinates and participates in training and development of new PSRs who are engaged in providing safe, adequate and cost effective service to customers.

Key Accountabilities

• Approves design work and monitor new primary installation performance and  direct contractor and Company crews in the construction of new primary installations.
• Repairs and replaces primary customer or DTE Energy-owned equipment following failure of such equipment.
• Provides safety protection, Lock out / Tag Out, for customers, contractors, and Company crews during testing, repair, or modification of electrical equipment.
• Maintains drawings and records of primary installations.
• Initiates customer billing for work done at their expense.
• Use P.C. applications (spreadsheets, graphics, memorandums, etc.) and  other computer systems to generate various reports and assist in the analysis of the data.
• Performs overtime as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

• Must have an Associates Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology; OR

• Two years of a four year degree program in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized college or university.

Preferred:

• Five years experience in design, maintenance, and/or operation of electrical systems and equipment such as: High and medium voltage class breakers and switchgear, Load break switches/disconnect, power transformers, generators, protective relaying and controls, cable, instrumental transformers, cable, metering, among others.
• Proficiency reading engineering drawings, electrical control schematics and wiring diagrams of equipment such as: High and medium voltage class breakers and switchgear, Load break switches/disconnect, power transformers, generators, protective relaying and controls, cable, instrumental transformers, metering, among others.

Other Requirements: 

• Must have analytical skills to perform troubleshooting/instrument test and problem solving in relation to customer equipment service problems. Test can be but not limited to: insulation/megger test of cables and equipment, voltage, demand, power factor, electrical current, grount test, mechanical tests, among others.
• Must have project management skills, which include scope and design of projects that include construction, reactive and preventive maintenance, successfully handling multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
• -Must be able to provide work direction of line crews and contractors performing work on high voltage equipment on customer premises.
• Must be able to work effectively with people at all levels both inside and  outside the Company, and customer service experience.
• Must qualify to work with the Central System Supervisor as a Primary Service Operating Agent and successfully complete the Primary Services Training Program within approximately 2.5 years.
• Must be able to conduct training for engineering technicians, account managers and customers.
• Must be willing to work overtime, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Must be proficient with basic computer functions (Microsoft Apps) and learn new applications such as MAXIMO, DOCUMENTUM, MICROSTATION, among others.
• Must have a valid driver's license, provide a suitable automobile for use on Company business, and meet Company driving standards.
• Must work storm emergency assignment.
