Job Description - Consumer Loan Processor

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A CONSUMER LOAN OFFICER

The Consumer Loan Officer Communicates closely with consumer loan officers and members to collect all necessary information and paper work for preparing, processing, and finalizing all documents necessary for closing all consumer loans. Coordinates loan closings with Branch and consumer loan officers and communicates necessary information to members. Electronically sends out loan documents to members via DocuSign to simplify the loan closing process and make it easier to do business with the credit union. Prepares and handles other miscellaneous electronic forms (ACH origination and extension agreements, overdraft path forms, etc.). Maintains loan documents and oversees all loan funding procedures. Provides extra mile and professional service to members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Assumes responsibility for providing effective support for all phases of loan processing activities and promotions through effective communication with the consumer loan officer and members as needed.

  • Reviews and verifies all details of the loan application and corrects any errors as part of the pre-audit process.
  • Prepares all necessary documents for closing of consumer loans as directed by central lending, outbound department, and branch personnel.
  • Sends loan paperwork to members by means necessary, including; electronically, via DocuSign software, fax or mail.
  • Maintains proper follow-up on all loan documents assigned for closing.
  • Receives and screens telephone calls. Answers routine questions or directs them to appropriate personnel. Records and relays messages. As needed.
  • Completes loan processing duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with members and external contacts.

  • Resolves (or refers) requests and problems promptly and courteously. Answers member questions pertaining to promotions, loans, balances, and payoffs.
  • Keeps members properly informed of Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and conveys the Credit Union's professional reputation.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with area personnel and management.

  • Completes assigned paperwork for Consumer Loan Manager and Loan Officers.
  • Completes records and reports promptly and accurately.
  • Supports and assists area personnel as needed.
  • Maintains departmental files.
  • Attends and participates in meetings as required.
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.

Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

  • Performs miscellaneous clerical and secretarial functions as needed.
  • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Replaces area personnel as needed.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Records, reports, and related documents are accurate, current, and submitted on time.
  • Files are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Good business relations exist with members. Problems and questions are courteously and promptly resolved or referred.
  • Good working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and with management. Assistance and support are provided as needed. Management is properly informed.
  • Loan processing functions are completed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • The Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification

High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience Preferred

This is an entry level lending position. No lending experience required. We are happy and willing to train a motivated and hard working employee.

Skills/Abilities

Strong typing abilities. Good verbal and written public relations skills. Proficient and professional in email correspondence. Able to operate calculator, word processor, and related computer applications. Ability to multi-task. Well organized.

SCHEDULE

Mon-Fri and some Saturdays. Shifts include 8-5, 8:30-5:30, 9-6 Mon-Fri and 9-3 on Saturdays. Working from home is offered after about 3 months. Max of 2-3 days at home per week.*
