Job Description - Restaurant Food Runner

Position Title: Food Runner

Department: Food & Beverage

Reports To: Dining Room Supervisors, Assistant Manager

Summary

The Food Runner reports to and is under the direction of the Dining Supervisor with oversight from the Assistant Managers. The main responsibility of the food runner is to deliver food to restaurant patrons. Once a customer places an order, the waiter or waitress communicates the order to the cook. After the meal is prepared, the food runner is responsible for ensuring that the plate arrives to the customer. Food runners are the last of the staff to see the meal before it reaches the customer, so it's important for them to know what each dish is supposed to look like so nothing is missed. It's also important that the plates are handled carefully and brought out in a timely manner, to ensure optimal food temperature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complies with the club's policies and procedures as established in the employee handbook.
  • S/he is held solely responsible for the delivery of food items/trays to the table
  • Maintains cleanliness in the kitchen and customer areas and returns plates/trays to the kitchen; therefore, must have a moderate level of physical capability.
  • Completes all opening and closing side work as assigned and/or scheduled for a given shift.
  • Clears soiled dishes as needed.
  • Advises the Dining Supervisor or management of any member or guest complaints or special request as soon as they occur.
  • Set buffets, tables and displays when necessary.
  • Attends staff meetings including pre-service sessions.
  • Consistently follows all sanitation-related requirements, including those related to personal hygiene.
  • Possesses a professional behavior and appearance at all times.
  • Held responsible for working all major club events to include Mother's Day, Easter, Club Fireworks Event, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Completes other appropriate work assignments as requested by the Dining Supervisor or Clubhouse Manager.

Position Qualifications and Functional Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. Furthermore, he/she should possess the following personal and professional characteristics:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must have good communication skills including understanding and speaking English
  • Able to meet the physical demands and responsibilities of the position. He/she will, while regularly performing the essential functions of the job, be standing, sitting and lifting/moving items or objects over 50 pounds and sometimes lift / move items up to 75 pounds.
  • 1+ years' experience required. County Club familiarity preferred, but not required. There is an expectation for you to develop your knowledge of overall Food & Beverage Operations as an employee of CCC .
