Job Description:

TD Securities is one of Canada's largest investment dealers, offering a wide range of brokerage services to both domestic and international investors. As TD's electronic gateway to equity and options market in Canada and the US, the Automated Execution Group (AEG) provides research, sales coverage and execution expertise to both institutional and retail accounts.


TD Securities is looking for an aggressive, highly motivated and pro-active self-starter to work with sales traders in the Automated Execution Group. AEG is responsible for soliciting new business, managing relationships and all operational and technological support for TD's institutional electronic equity trading clients. AEG is TD's Direct Market Access (DMA) and electronic trading group and whose mandate includes refinement of advanced electronic trading tools including smart-order routing and execution algorithms. AEG's functions also extend to quantitative analysis of performance metrics for low latency order flow and the generation of Transactional Cost Analysis (TCA).


The candidate we're looking for should be comfortable working with Python on a daily basis, in a fast-paced and fluid environment and expect both routine tasks and priority requests for data analysis, as well as be comfortable speaking with both external clients and internal stakeholders over the phone. Most days are not routine.

Principal responsibilities you'll be entrusted with include but are not limited to:

  • Working closely with sales traders to support clients, assist with client requests, conduct day-to-day activities which facilitate client trading
  • Create, enhance, and maintain new data analysis reports for market insight reporting leveraging a large data source of intraday quote and trade data.
  • Design and implement front-office solutions to optimize trading operations
  • Conduct data analysis on US and Canadian equity order flow using a variety of data sources including Bloomberg, HDFS, SQL Server, and TD's tick databases (OneTick)
  • Assist in market microstructure modeling and quantitative research on Transactional Cost Analysis and order routing optimization.
  • Coordinate with various groups (middle office, back office, technology, clients) in resolving technical and settlement issues in trading operations

Technical Qualifications:

  • Strong familiarity with Python Scripting is a MUST
  • Strong familiarity with Excel functions and tools
  • Experience with software/programming languages -VBA and SQL programming
  • Understanding of Hadoop Directory File Structure (HDFS) is beneficial
  • Understanding of finance and capital markets is beneficial
  • Understanding of equities trading is beneficial
  • Database maintenance and development (SQL Server experience) preferred
  • Experience with technology in a financial setting Experience with Bloomberg, Order Management Systems is beneficial

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to be a self starter and take initiative without specifically being directed tasks
  • Strong communication skills are mandatory
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others (both with internal and external stakeholders)
  • Highly-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a proactive manner
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail is a MUST
