Job Description - Service Driver - Hiring Urgently

We are on the lookout for an expert Service Driver to join our dynamic team at Peterbilt of Norfolk in Norfolk, NE.

The purpose of the Service Driver is to perform short and long road tests on trucks for the Service Department. Road tests, or test drives, are to verify failure and to verify repairs have resolved failure. Additional duties may be assigned to aid Service Department in transport of units.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform vehicle Road Tests/Test Drives.
  • Document findings from Road Test/Test Drives, noting conditions (warning lights, vibrations, noises, etc.).
  • Clearly communicate results of Road Test and or Test Drive to Service Manager, Foreman, and Technician.
  • Transfer company vehicle inventory between stores or to designated locations.
  • Attend scheduled service meetings.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Education

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Intermediate computer skills preferred.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Attention to detail allowing for Road Test/Test Drive results to be documented upon return.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must be at least 23 years old with 2 years of CDL driving experience.
  • Must possess a valid CDL including the necessary endorsements.  Class B Required.  Class A Preferred.
  • Must be physically qualified and have a valid medical examiners certificate.
  • No convictions for driving while impaired (DWI, DUI, OWI) within the past 5 years.
  • No serious moving violation convictions during the past 5 years.
  • No more than 3 at-fault accidents and/or minor moving violations during the past 3 years.
  • No more than 2 at-fault accidents and/or minor moving violations during the past year.
  • Must pass the Drivers Road Test Examination with the Company’s designated person.

Travel

  • On occasion, travel may be required.
