Job Description - Shift Lead

JOB SUMMARY

The Shift Lead helps oversee in-store operations alongside the Assistant Manager and plays a major role in ensuring the store is in exceptional order and that all employees are performing duties properly and efficiently.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITIES

• Assists with hiring and training staff.

• Assists with discipline and termination of employees in accordance with policy.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greets customers, record orders, and serve food and beverages with a consistently positive and helpful attitude, including answering questions about the menu.

• Inputs orders into a point-of-sale system and accept payment using a credit card reader or cash register, calculating change accurately and quickly as required.

• Works together with the line team to prepare cold and hot subs to customer specifications, while following cooking instructions, safety procedures, and sanitary requirements.

• Uses specific kitchen machinery such as knives, grills, slicers, etc.

• Ensures restaurant cleanliness daily by clearing and wiping tables, sweeping, and mopping floors, washing, and sanitizing kitchen utensils, and servicing restrooms.

• Communicates effectively with team members and management to create work schedules, train new employees, and resolve any interpersonal issues as needed.

• Handles customer concerns and complaints professionally and calmly to resolve problems according to Jersey Mike's standards and policy.

• Maintains a neat and tidy appearance by wearing required uniform and adhering to a corporate dress code.

• Assists the Assistant Manager with daily tasks such as scheduling, ordering, and running a business while meeting store sales goals.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.

• Excellent time management skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Familiarity with food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Previous restaurant experience required; supervisory experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods standing and walking.

• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of restaurant.

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

• May be required work in excessive heat and cold in association with the kitchen environment.
