Job Description - Shipping and Receiving Associate

The primary responsibilities of the Shipping & Receiving Associate are to ship, receive, and deliver supplies, materials and equipment, improve the flow of materials handling tasks, organize, report and monitor the receipt, storage and distribution of goods in a timely, efficient, and productive manner and maintain inventory control and records. Receiving
- Verify part number, quantity, batch or serial numbers and all required documents are provided; identify any apparent damage to parts.
- Post receipt in computer system, including scanning, retrieving and filing certification, reports, etc.
- Label, tag or otherwise identify parts
- Log any discrepancies; document problems, monitor shelf life, MSDS or other special conditions
- Verify all items on shipping manifest are accounted for and packages are not damaged before signing for receipts
- Create Repair Files in AX, folders, labels, etc.
- Other tasks as necessary Inventory Maintenance
- Support MRO and OEM production needs by handling floor stock, and scan/order twin-bin hardware delivery system
- Monitor and respond appropriately to replenishment triggers
- Participates in physical inventories / cycle counting of warehouse
- Maintains inventory records by adding or deleting supplies as they are issued, moved, shipped or received
- Label, cycle count, control for First in First Out (FIFO)
- May coordinate disposal of surplus property and manage records retention.
- Move product as required; optimize space and time utilization
- Pick, transfer, issue, locate, sort and or consolidate items as required
- Document return and issue of part found nonconforming in production.
- Other tasks as necessary Material handling
- Deliver and collect materials to schedules and all other requirements to delivery destinations
- Sorting and segregation of serviceable and unserviceable materials
- Label, cycle count, control for First in First Out (FIFO)
- Monitor and address shelf life and expiring materials
- Complete the hourly Milk Run to support production; Hand-delivering parts to production
- Receive picking tickets, pick and distribute corresponding parts
- Monitor mis-picks Clerical Maintenance
- Operates a personal computer to access, enter, and correct information; answers phones and provides information using customer service
- May prepare damage claims for supervisor's review and signature
- File and retrieve as required Shipping
- Package items for shipping per packing cards for OEM products and similar standards for MRO/Repairs; verify consistency between documents and items
- Comply with Export Control requirements, document HTSC, and register according to license
- Create shipping labels (FedEx, UPS, Schenker, etc.); arrange for pick up
- Distribute tracking and documents for customs broker and internal customers
- Order shipping supplies
- Update ERP system (AX) with tracking numbers

Job Requirements

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent certification/experience
- Knowledge of basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
- Strong computing skills, PC literate
- Knowledge of MRP Process/ ERP system experience
- APICS Certification preferred
- Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of electronic management of parts, storage management and issuing inventory and supplies electronically
- Supply Chain Management practices and procedures
- Excel experience required
- Aviation Industry Experience preferred Physical Requirements:
- Warehouse and material handling experience
- Capable of lifting up to 25 pound and “on-your-feet” work for full shift
- Frequently required to stand for long periods of time; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Able to read size 5 font (serial number and batch numbers)
- Handling, storing, and shipping materials or supplies; operating material handling equipment; accessing information on a computer; reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness
- Able to lift and carry a minimum of 25 lbs. with or without accommodations.
