Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager (SSM) II, Regional Human Resources Office (RHRO) – Northern, the incumbent is the first line supervisor and is responsible for expedited hiring at assigned institutions, Field Liaison related activities, and resolves/completes the most difficult Human Resources (HR) issues. Incumbent ensures California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) programs are provided with outstanding HR customer service. Incumbent monitors and reiterates confidentiality and security within the office. Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises the full range of the more complex HR functions in the field.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Either I

One year of experience in the California State service performing analytical staff duties of a class with a level of responsibility not less than that of Associate Governmental Program Analyst. (Applicants who have completed six months of service performing the duties as specified above will be admitted to the examination, but they must satisfactorily complete one year of this experience before they can be eligible for appointment.)

Or II

Three years of increasingly responsible management, personnel, fiscal, planning, program evaluation, or related analytical experience beyond the trainee level which shall have included the preparation of reports and the presentation of recommendations to management, at least one year of which must have been in full journeyperson technical capacity. (Experience in the California State service applied toward this requirement must include one year performing the duties of a class with a level of responsibility not less than that of Associate Governmental Program Analyst.) (In appraising experience more weight will be given to the breadth of pertinent experience and the evidence of the candidate’s ability to accept and fulfill increasing responsibilities than to the length of the experience.)

Education: Equivalent to graduation from college. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)

This position may be eligible for remote-centered telework with in-person attendance on an as needed basis at the Northern Region HR located at 8280 Longleaf Drive, Elk Grove, California. Some travel may be required.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Pursuant to the Public Health Orders ( Guidance for the and State and Local Correctional ) issued by the California Department of Public Health and the directive Mandatory issued by the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR), all staff assigned to this post/position may be required to show evidence of full vaccination and booster for COVID-19, absent an approved reasonable medical or religious accommodation precluding them from vaccination.
