ACCOUNT TECHNICIAN I (UPWARD MOBILITY) 

Position Overview

The Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong attention to detail to serve as an Account Technician I in the timekeeping department at IYC St. Charles. The incumbent in this position will serve in the Business Office and be responsible for processing and maintaining accurate timekeeping records and reports for the entire facility. The ideal candidate will possess previous timekeeping experience in a setting that provides for varying shifts. This position serves as lead worker and main point of contact for employees and other staff within the timekeeping department. DJJ encourages all interested and qualified individuals to apply!

Essential Functions

  1. Receives, reviews, and maintains all facility time and attendance records.
  2. Posts all receipts and disbursements to youth accounts in automated system.
  3. Assists with the compilation of bi-monthly youth commissary orders from individual orders submitted by youth.
  4. Prepares and audits complex financial documents for the facility.
  5. Assists in the preparation of quarterly and monthly reports based on the information derived from the ledgers for the various local funds.
  6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course or three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
  • Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience processing timekeeping in a congregate care, correctional, or similar environment with varying shifts.
  2. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience reconciling timekeeping reports and researching errors.
  3. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience performing data entry.
  4. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience meeting deadlines in a time sensitive environment.
  5. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience processing vouchers and/or conducting tasks related to Trust Funds in a congregate care or similar setting.

 

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to pass an IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  2. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  3. Requires the ability to comply with all local and federal health requirements and/or mandates.
