Indiana Hospital Association is a nonprofit organization that serves as the professional trade association for more than 170 Hoosier hospitals. The mission of IHA is to provide leadership, representation, and services in the common best interests of its members as they promote the improvement of community health status. IHA’s primary responsibility is to represent the interests of hospitals in matters of public policy. IHA also provides members with education, communications, and data collection services.

Position Summary: The Accountant focuses on performing accounting functions in accordance with GAAP, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. The accountant will assist with financial reporting under the supervision of the Controller. This role is responsible for accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and other assigned accounting processes, including performing month-end closing procedures.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare a variety of billing requests directly impacting IHA revenues, including annual dues, corporate sponsors, endorsed business partners, educational programs, and grant billing
  • Report internally on payment status and outstanding receivables
  • Review accounts payable batches and invoice coding to approve before the release of payment
  • Review and monitor credit card charges and approval of monthly reconciliation
  • Monitor GL expense coding compared to the budget and assist in the preparation of Budget VS Actual reporting
  • Bank statement reconciliation for all entities (9 monthly)
  • Maintain financial statement work papers for each balance sheet account monthly
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly, including monthly sub-ledger reconciliations
  • Point of contact for IHA monthly timekeeping reporting for federal grant management compliance
  • Assist with the preparation of the Indiana Organization of Nursing Leadership financial reporting
  • Research and resolve issues with electronic payments and banking issues
  • Maintain financial statement report writer program
  • Facilitate year-end preparation of 1099 reporting
  • Assist with annual audit and tax return preparation
  • Assist with process improvement and projects as needed

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and three to five years related experience and/or training
  • Sage Intacct experience preferred
  • Prior experience working with a fully integrated CRM preferred

Normal office environment

  • Hybrid work environment with the option to work from home two days per week
  • Hours are generally Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., with some flexibility on start and end time.
  • Additional hours may be required as necessary to complete job requirements, with occasional weekend and/or evening work.
