SUMMARY
Responsible for the company's accounting processes. Supervise invoicing, accounts receivable, postage reconciliation process, sales/materials analysis, end-of-month and year-end close functions, general ledger accounting by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Accounting Duties:
Supervise month end activities and review entries to assure accuracy. Responsible for monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger including preparation of journal entries. Insures proper documentation of company transactions.
Supervise petty cash, accounts receivable, postage process, and resolves questions or problems of accounting staff, if necessary, as they pertain to accounting principal and theory.
Resolve questions or problems of computer - generated reports and use of computer application programs.
Perform end-of-year accounting functions and act as liaison for audit preparation and support.
Assist in analysis of information and work flow between accounting department and divisions of the company to ensure integrity of information and efficiency of systems.
Perform other accounting duties as required or requested.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises accounting staff billing/account receivable clerk, postage reconciliation clerk and clearing room clerk. Responsible for keeping accounting personnel apprised of changes or enhancements in computer accounting programs. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting from four-year College or university with at least two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
