Job Description - Adjunct Faculty, Electric Machining

Compensation: Based on qualifications Compensation Type: Employee Employment Type: Salary Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Grade: Department: Instruction Position Summary Teaches education courses and performs instructional duties in diverse learning environments. Adjunct faculty is expected that faculty maintain current professional standards and practices, as well as attend committee/department meetings, and support the mission of SFCC. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach courses in Industrial Technology emphasizing Electrical Maintenance.
  • Provide the most effective instruction possible in one’s discipline to ensure that the educational needs of students are met and that students achieve specified learning objectives.
  • Teach assigned courses, whether on campus or off campus, day or evening, following the official syllabi and using approved textbooks and other learning materials.
  • Meet all classes regularly and on time, as scheduled, and for their full duration.
  • Evaluate student performance (attainment of learning objectives) and assign grades.
  • Maintain all office hours and make arrangements for appointments with students at other times.
  • Keep accurate records of student attendance, grades, etc.
  • Meet all deadlines in submitting grades or other required information on students.
  • Make arrangements with the Academic Director for covering classes when scheduling an absence.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline and applicable certifications in career field.
  • Additional direct, applicable experience and current licenses and credentials related to program requirements.
  • Must have current expertise in one or more curricular areas included in the program (electronics, drawing schematics, mechanical/electrical operations, and environmental health and safety).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher Teaching Experience or teacher training

Physical Requirements

  • Position requires frequent to continuous movement within the College, standing, walking, sitting and handling of small objects and may include climbing ladders, and lifting, pulling and pushing up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, and occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise levels in the work environment are usually loud. Protective gear (uniform, safety glasses, hair net, bump cap and ear plugs) is required at work sites.
