POSITION SUMMARY:
This position's overall purpose is to provides a wide range of statistical expertise, guidance, and support to faculty, researchers, scientists, research teams, and managers engaged in research studies within the department. This role includes responsibilities include statistical design of studies, data exploration,data extraction, data cleaning and analyses, generating key documents such as statistical analysis plans and grant materials. Statistical and analytical support will be utilized at all stages of the project life-cycle, from sample size calculations, to database design, data cleaning, and analysis. The individual is expected to be functioning at the independent Statistician III level and must have been awarded or have completed the requirements for a doctoral degree or foreign equivalent. The lead Biostatistician will be an integral member of the Department of Anesthesiology and will be engaged in multiple NIH and industrial-funded multi-center studies as well as observational outcomes research. Excellent technical, organizational and communication skills are a must.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSES, AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of epidemiology, outcomes research, evidence-based medicine, and experience using longitudinal datasets, data repositories and statistical Analysis with SAS, STATA, SPSS , R or other alternative statistical software.
Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
Intermediate to advanced sql database skills and knowledge to write and optimized SQL queries for integration with other applications
