Job Description - Cafe Supervisor

Job Title:  Café Supervisor

Location: New York, NY

Café by day and natural wine bar by night, right in the heart of the West Village and Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. the Café Manager oversees all aspects of Café Service with a focus on Execution, Staffing & Scheduling, Quality, Cleanliness, and Compliance. They are a positive influence through training and education of FOH and BOH staff, and strive for the highest standards in drinks, customer interactions, attitude, and brand ambassadorship.

 

The Café Supervisor takes on responsibilities including but not limited to:

 

  • Collaboratively establish strategies to achieve and surpass daily/weekly/monthly/annual sales objectives
  • Communicate business goals to teams effectively and provide support to achieve them
  • Monitor & maintain food & beverage inventory levels and communicate any issues to NY Operational Manager
  • Daily/Weekly inventories of stock & close monitoring of product levels
  • Bi-Weekly scheduling in accordance with business needs and special events
  • Help to create positive, enthusiastic, and well-trained store culture by providing an informed, honest, and optimistic example for the team. Respond appropriately to ideas, concerns, complaints, and comments from management and staff
  • Oversee and execute effective communication between baristas and kitchen staff to ensure that food and beverage offerings are fresh, labeled appropriately, and kept well-stocked
  • Guide direction of new seasonal food and beverage offerings and contribute any skills and ideas for new items
  • Hire, train and manage performance of all café staff, including conducting regular performance reviews
  • Develop team’s knowledge of the brand’s overall culture, mission, values, and spirit, and establish unity between properties in New York
  • Coordinate cleaning and maintenance programs in all FOH and BOH areas
  • Facilitate execution of private events

 

Requirements:

 

  • Food Handlers License
  • Fundamental coffee knowledge and barista skills
  • Experience in a high volume coffee shop / coffee lead business
  • Regular Weekend Availability Required (both Saturday & Sunday)
  • The desire to teach, learn and grow and be part of a cohesive and collaborative team
  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, and service team
  • A compassionate yet fearless leader – understand how to motivate, inspire and hold teams accountable. Know how to enforce expectations.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and multi-task on a regular basis with attention to detail and familiarity with addressing complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills – clear and concise communicator who can execute strategies quickly and effectively.
  • Receptive to constructive criticism and performance feedback
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, special events and some holidays
  • Must be able to lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work in a standing/walking position for long periods of time
  • May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, color vision and climbing ladders
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology necessary to perform job duties, including handheld electronic equipment
  • Command of the English language (some Spanish also preferred)
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

 

This position is based in New York City and will report directly to the Café Operations Manager – New York.
