Job Description - Driver

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As a Final Mile Driver for our client, your role is crucial in safely and efficiently delivering hazardous materials to customers. You operate heavy-duty commercial vehicles, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations and following scheduled routes. With a strong focus on safety, compliance, and exceptional service, you contribute to the secure and timely transport of hazardous cargo. Effective communication, thorough vehicle inspections, and proactive hazard identification are essential aspects of your responsibilities. By upholding our client's commitment to safety and service excellence, you play a vital part in the smooth flow of hazardous materials in the transportation industry.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Final Mile Driver (On-Site) will have the additional responsibilities of:

Utilizing the switcher, yard truck.
Following written SOPs, Work Instructions, customer-specific requirements, Safety Procedures, and average to additional Customer Specific Procedures.
Responding to customer demands and requests while performing duties at the customer facility.
All other Final Mile responsibilities must be followed.

Additional Duties:

Receiving incoming trailer chassis and ISO Tanks, placing and distributing these trailer chassis to the designated drop-yard.
Responding to customer requests and placing trailers at specific areas such as doors and docks.
Pulling trailers from designated areas and placing them or delivering them back to the company warehouse in Surprise, AZ.
May also be responsible for cylinder cart distribution and cylinder placement at the customer site to designated cabinets.
Utilizing warehouse equipment for the distribution of products delivered.
Shifts may include, but are not limited to, 12-hour days or nights in front-half days and nights and back-half days or night rotation.

This position will report to management at our warehouse location in Surprise, AZ.

QUALIFICATIONS

You should have the following:

Must meet all DOT requirements and qualifications.

Final Mile Driver must possess a valid CDL, specifically a Class A license with a hazmat and tanker endorsements.

Final Mile Drivers must be at least 21 years old due to interstate driving regulations and insurance requirements.

Minimum of one year of driving experience with similar equipment is required.

Clean Driving Record, not have more than two moving violations in the past three years.

Driving can be physically demanding. Drivers must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam and meet specific health requirements to ensure they can safely operate commercial vehicles.

Must have a comprehensive understanding of hazardous materials transportation regulations, including proper handling, packaging, labeling, placarding, and emergency response procedures.

Have a comprehensive understanding of Department of Transportation regulations, including hours-of-service rules, vehicle maintenance requirements, and load securement guidelines.

Should possess exceptional driving skills, including maneuvering large vehicles, backing up, and navigating through various road and weather conditions.

Effective time management and organizational skills to meet delivery schedules, plan routes, and coordinate with dispatchers and customers.

Proficient in reading maps, using GPS systems, and following directions to ensure they reach their destinations efficiently.

Should possess basic vehicle maintenance skills, such as checking tire pressure, fluid levels, and performing routine inspections to ensure the safety and functionality of the vehicle.

Prioritize safety and adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including the proper use of seat belts, maintaining appropriate speed limits, and conducting regular safety checks.

Self-motivated individual with a sense of urgency, a demonstrated work ethic and integrity.

NOTE: We would like a minimum of 1 year experience with CDL and tanker/hazmat endorsement. But would prefer someone with 3-4 years experience if possible.
