Purpose Statement/Position Summary:
In collaboration with the Sr Education and Training Specialists assess, design, develop and/or implement patient and family education content and resources for the purpose of increasing positive health outcomes and health literacy enterprise-wide to ensure health equity and mitigate health care disparities. Establish and maintain high quality, current, accessible, evidence-based patient and family education and related staff training programs.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
1+ years’ experience (work or internship) in patient family education including but not limited but not limited to training, supporting and guiding hospital team members to create and design content and programs that meet health literacy best practice standards through consultation and review.
Preferred Experience: Understanding of Adult Learning Theory, Performance-Based Development/Instruction focused on developing critical thinking, competencies and knowledge, skills and attitudes. Designing and programming interactive lessons. Demonstrated experience with adult learning theory and instructional techniques. Experience using interactive patient learning systems, content and Learning Management Systems to manage/deliver content. Sufficient technical experience to interface with IT resources regarding on-line course delivery, tracking, reporting, and management requirements.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Master’s Degree in public health, communication, health education, nursing, sociology or equivalent required.
Maintains relevant professional certifications (CHES, RN, MSW, or equivalent certification and training)
Health Literacy Certificate required within 1 year of hire.
