Columbia School of Nursing is part of the prestigious Columbia University Irving Medical Center which includes the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Mailman School of Public Health, and the College of Dental Medicine. Reporting to the Dean of the Columbia University School of Nursing, the Vice Dean of Education (VDE) serves as the Chief Academic Officer within the School of Nursing. As a member of the senior leadership team, the VDE works closely with the school's other Associate Deans to provide coordinated leadership of the school. The development, implementation, and evaluation of programs of instruction for the Masters Direct Entry (MDE) for non-nurse college graduates, Master of Science (ACML), and Doctor of Nursing Practice fall under the purview of the VDE. The Vice Dean of Education should be a dynamic, innovative, and inclusive thought leader who will provide guidance to the faculty in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum. Representing the School across the University and to the outside community on matters related to the programs of instruction is another key responsibility of the position. The VDE will manage two Assistant Deans of Academic Affairs, Masters Programs and DNP Programs as the Executive.
