Job Description - Financial Accountant

Orgill is looking for a Financial Accountant in Collierville, TN – The Accountant I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting the finance department in
creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This position reports to the Corporate Accountant.

Essential Fucntions:

  • Prepare accounting records, including financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
  • Establish records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts.
  • Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
  • Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.

Competencies:

  •  Knowledge of current and emerging GAAP and related audit standards.
  •  Aptitude to establish priorities, meet deadlines, manage one’s own time, and proceed with limited supervision.
  •  Ability to communicate information and ideas both verbally and written so others will understand.
  •  Exercises judgment and initiative in interpreting policy and guidelines on financial matters

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • The Accountant I role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands

  • This is a largely sedentary role, however some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work. This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work
    hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 37.5 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

Travel

  • No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent number of years of experience
  • 1 year of experience in accounting field
