Laboratory Assistant

Kelly has been providing outstanding employment opportunities to the most talented individuals in the marketplace. We are proud to offer a temporary position with a client that is seeking a Laboratory Assistant in Indianapolis, IN.

PAY: $19.00-19.50/hr – W2

DURATION: 12 months (possible extension – permanent conversion not guaranteed)

LOCATION: On-Site – Indianapolis, IN (Local Candidates ONLY)

SCHEDULE: Mon-Fri 7a -4p

40 hours + 1 Saturday for 2 hours typically once per month (this is worked out between the team members).

Description:

•Some Aseptic technique experience preferred but not required as long as they are open to learning.

•Hard worker, good attendance, willing to learn, Highly motivated.

Media Preparation

• Wash/rinse glassware and equipment, sterilize equipment using Autoclave, fill tubes and bottles with specified solutions, prepare cleaning solutions, deliver supplies to work areas, operate basic lab equipment

• CDM Tests

• Perform routine lab work, test setup: put plant into trays and tag, make tags for test, thinning plants, and marking plants for mobility tests, and breakdowns (place plants onto another cart)

• Greenhouses

• Uses of insecticides/fungicides, inoculate and harvest pathogens, wash and move carts, cut flats into single pots, bag and weigh plant material for disposal

• Cleaning

• Clean lab and greenhouse benches and floors, empty hazardous and non-hazardous waste containers and replace, scrub down Growth and Dew Rooms, and stock of labs and greenhouses with supplies.

Requirements:

• Candidate needs to have some basic knowledge of plants.

• Resume and work history facts should display candidate’s ability to be of sound and professional work ethic, including a highly motivated mindset.

• Work history needs to allow for and present candidate as one with successful efforts with Teamwork and experience in a professional environment, with independent work skills.

Education:

High School, maybe some college/non degreed.
