POSITION OVERVIEW

POSITION SUMMARY
The OnTrackNY Program is an innovative treatment program at Parsons Child and Family Center. The program serves adolescents and young adults who are within two years of experiencing the onset of non-affective psychosis. OnTrackNY is an evidence-located approach assisting individuals with mental illness to obtain rapid competitive employment and mainstream educational opportunities. Supportive Education and Employment Specialist (SEES) workers are fully integrated into the mental health service. The SEES will work as part of a small multidisciplinary team providing coordinated and assertive treatment in the earliest stages of illness. this job offer is responsible for supporting the educational and employment needs for OnTrack NY enrolled participants. this job offer will also help participants to identify interests and expertise related to education and employment.

ESSENTIAL tasks AND RESPONSIBILITIES

»Engaging clients and establishing trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of education or competitive employment in community job settings

»Providing job development and job search services directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the people on his/her caseload, following the principles and procedures of the individual placement and support approach to supported employment.

»Conducting a minimum of 4 employer contacts per week.

»Providing individualized support to assist clients in maintaining employment or education

»Arranging access to benefits counseling.

»Spending 65% or more time of scheduled work hours in the community.

»For example, meeting clients at community locations (e.g. home, workplace, school, coffee shop, library, etc.); taking clients to apply for jobs; investigating local employment options; or meeting with employers regarding job development

EDUCATION and/or practice

»Requires a Bachelors degree in mental health or a related field

»One (1) year of related practice

»Training and practice working with adolescents and/or young adults with serious mental illness

» practice providing employment services

CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE

»New York State Driver's license is required
