Preschool Assistant Teacher

Bright Light Academy is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Assistant Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least two full years of childcare experience and have a passion for working with young children. Our Preschool program serves potty-trained children three & four years old.

Responsibilities:

• Work cooperatively with fellow teachers to implement center's curriculum and create a nurturing and immersive school environment.
• Help create a safe and stimulating classroom for children.
• Monitor and engage with children during playtime, meals, and other daily routines.
• Provide individual and group support to children as needed.
• Communicate regularly with parents about their child's development and progress.
• Analyze, summarize, and complete developmental assessments using school materials on a trimester basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Must be patient, nurturing, and able to create a positive learning environment..
• Flexibility in scheduling is a plus.
• A completed CDA certification or some college credits in child development, early childhood education or children & family studies.

Requirements:

• 2 years of experience in early childcare, childcare, education, or related experience.
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs., see, hear and sit on the floor with children.
• To pass state, federal, and child abuse background checks.
• To be of legal age or older and legally able to work in the United States.

Position Overview:

• This is a full-time position.
• Pay ranges from $16.00-17.50 per hour (relevant to education & years of experience), with an increase reflective of performance after completing your first 90 days.
• Bright Light Academy is open five days a week, but staff work a FOUR-DAY WORK WEEK.
• Full-time staff also receive paid holidays, time-off, sick days, reduced childcare & more.
