The Research Associate (RA) at the Terrestrial Biogeochemistry and Paleoclimatology Lab will provide high-level oversight to support and contribute to a diverse portfolio of research projects. The RA will manage operations of the laboratories metal isotope and geochronology analytical facilities including Q-ICP-MS and MC-ICP-MS, and the new Trace Metals Laboratory. The individual will be responsible for overseeing the workflow and setting up new isotope systems for the lab. The incumbent will train and support students, postdocs, and visitors to the lab, and participate in lab outreach and education.
Responsibilities include: instrument operation, scheduling and maintenance; lab purchasing and related paperwork; sample preparation; data and metadata analysis, quality control, and archival; training and oversight of student research assistants (RAs) and other lab personnel; and ensuring compliance with environmental health and safety guidelines. The RA will also engage in collaborative and independent research projects including fostering external collaborations, drafting/editing of manuscripts, and preparation of grants. The RA may participate in and co-organize fieldwork associated with research projects.
This position is 100% research funded and is for one year with the possibility of renewal, based on
satisfactory work performance and dependent upon funding.
