Job Description - Safety Manager

Compensation range: $75,000K - $82,500K/Annually

Location: Seattle, WA

Shift: Day shift, Monday - Friday

 

The Safety Manager serves as local Safety Leader. Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries and accidents. Assists, plans, and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Works with department leaders to plan and implement training for employees on safe work practices. They will also ensure the company is compliant and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) and Washington State (WSHA) regulations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for advising the workforce on any safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Maintains safety files and records as required for compliance.
  • Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Actively tracks employee injuries per OSHA requirements.
  • Supports workers compensation process, ensuring employee receives an Activity Prescription Form (APF) and ensures employee returns to work as prescribed in the APF.
  • Supports department leaders and Director, Health & Safety, with conducting post-accident investigation and report completion identifying possible accident causes and hazards for corrective action.
  • Maintains all records and investigations related to accidents, injuries, and first aid claims. Ensures company meets compliance with OSHA, county, and state regulations.
  • Maintains MSDS files for hazardous chemicals used by the company.
  • Submits reports to customers on safety metrics in accordance with contract obligations.
  • Partners with local leadership, HR Business Partners, and Director, Health & Safety on safety issues as needed.
  • Attends or leads One Workplace Corporate Safety Meetings on a regular basis.

Qualifications:

 

Education Requirements

Associates degree preferred, and 2-4 years of relevant combination of education and experience to successfully meet essential job functions in a warehouse environment.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Work Environment

Regularly works with others face to face, over the phone and through email. Generally, works in an office environment with moderate noise. Nature of work may require working off hours and significant time spent (50%) out of the office. Periodically works outside and may work around moving objects, dust, and dirt.
