Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures, following professional technical standards and hospital specific protocols to produce medically useful sonographic images and measurements. Works independently and with other health care providers to perform imaging procedures and present images and relative patient information to the Radiologist for interpretation. Interacts with patients ranging in age from neonate to geriatric and all types of illnesses.
Successful completion of an accredited Ultrasound program. Sonographers hired after January 2016 must be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through ARDMS. BLS required.
All yourVisual and hearing abilities sufficient for observing and interpreting technical information provided by a variety of equipment displays, graphic and written sources; sufficient for receiving and understanding job related verbal technical and medical instructions in a busy radiology environment. Ability to steadily perform radiologic procedures in the presence of critically injured or critically ill patients, highly anxious family members, multiple physician requests, maintain patient confidentiality, ability to work cooperatively within a team, ability to adapt to change. Ability to communicate effectively. Critical thinking and problem solving skills. Strong customer service and patient care skills. Effective time management. information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
