Job Description - BUSINESS DEV MANAGER-ON PREM

We're on the lookout for a passionate and results-driven Business Development Manager - On-Premise to spearhead our sales strategies and revenue growth across assigned states. This role is a unique blend of strategy, execution, and leadership within the vibrant wine industry. As the face of the Gallo brand in on-premise accounts and to our distributors, you will be instrumental in nurturing our business relationships and enhancing our product sales through innovative techniques.

 

Your mission will be to implement our sales plan effectively, ensuring we meet our ambitious revenue targets while maximizing our brand contribution. With 40% of your focus on winery interactions and 60% on distributor/field execution, your ability to pivot and allocate resources based on market dynamics and performance metrics will be crucial. You'll be entrusted with developing and executing field pricing strategies, negotiating objectives with distributor leadership, and overseeing the successful rollout of national promotions.

 

Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work closely with distributor management, ensuring the execution of annual sales plans and evaluating market conditions. Your leadership will extend to mentoring Market Development Managers, contributing to their career growth and ensuring our talent pipeline remains robust.

 

Your responsibilities will also include conducting product tastings, sales training, and participating in consumer engagement initiatives. As a Gallo Ambassador, you'll leverage social media and other platforms to champion our brands within the community, embodying our ethos of intrapreneurship and ownership.

What You Will Need:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of Gallo winery sales, marketing, or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility;
  • OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 8 years of Gallo Winery sales, marketing, or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to obtain liquor license as required by state/locality.
  • Required to travel by air and automobile up to 50% during the course of business.
  • Required to see, taste, and smell wine and perform product tastings as part of job functions.
  • Experience demonstrating strong leadership selling, time management, public speaking skills.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
