Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I the Staff Services Analyst performs a variety of analytical duties and responsibilities that are essential to the effective operation of the Board’s Criminal Conviction Unit.

Working Conditions

The incumbent works up to 40 hours per week in person at the Sacramento headquarter office, with artificial light and temperature control. The position requires bending and stooping to retrieve files; walking, sometimes outdoors in inclement weather; and occasional lifting, up to 25 pounds. The ability to use a personal computer and telephone is essential.

Fingerprinting

Title 11, section 703 (d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring. In accordance to DCA’s (CORI) procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program matters at all times.

    The SOQ is a narrative discussion that individually answers each of the questions below and serves as documentation of your ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. The SOQ shall by typed, single-spaced, 12-point Arial font, with a one-inch margin, and no more than two (2) pages in length. Please number each response to its corresponding topic. Candidates will be selected based on information provided in the SOQ.

    1) Describe in detail your experience, training, educational background, and qualifications as they relate to duties for this position. Please include relevant years of experience and/or education and training.

    2) Describe your experience related to managing an investigation workload, including evaluating documentation, interpreting and applying appropriate violations, preparing written reports, and prioritizing work. Please provide specific examples, methods, and years of experience.

    3) Describe your experience communicating with regulatory agencies, licensees and applicants to obtain necessary information for evaluation. Please provide specific examples, methods, and years of experience.
