Dukunoo Jamaican Kitchen in Miami, FL is looking for a host/hostess to join our strong team. We are located on 316 Nw 24th St., Miami, FL 33127. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, motivated, and hard-working.

Department:  Front of House

Job Status:  Full Time

Work Schedule:  Full Time or Part Time

- 8 hour shifts (2 days off)

- 10 hour shifts (3 days off)

- 12 hour shifts (4 days off)

- 13 hour shifts (4 days off)

 

These options could also include  workweeks  that look like:

- Thursday - Sunday 

- Monday - Wednesday, etc.

 

Position Summary

As a host, you will greet guests in a friendly, and courteous manner as they enter the restaurant. The host/hostess is responsible to make a great first impression and to practice excellent customer service, even in stressful situations. The host/hostess directs all customers to their seats and provides them with a menu. Answers the telephone at the front desk and makes reservation in a timely and efficient manner along with other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Functions:

· Meet all uniform, appearance, and grooming standards as specified by the company

· Greet guests within the first 30 seconds of guests entering the restaurant and invite them to return when they are leaving the restaurant

· Deal with difficult customers with composure and professionalism

· Follow all sanitation and safety standards set forth by the company

· Provide guests with menus and inform them of their server’s name upon seating

· Must be knowledgeable of the menu and answer customer questions about allergies and dietary restrictions

· Make guests reservations, record names and the number of people in party and provide guests with estimated waiting time when immediate seating is limited

· Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible

· Handle reservation and wait lists promptly and answer the phone in a professional manner when taking reservations by phone, which must be done with accuracy.

· Ensure reservations for large parties is communicated to management and kitchen staff to ensure prompt service

· Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems such as double bookings, and any issues with reservation and seating

· Maintain a waitlist when immediate seating is limited and seat guests as soon as a table becomes available

· Follow procedures on how to rotate tables properly so that servers receive the correct number of seatings

· Follow all end-of-shift checkout procedures as outlined by the company

· Maintain a collaborative working relationship by assisting other team members if needed

· Assist servers with wiping down tables, reset the tables and run the food

· Ensure that the dining and serving areas are kept clean and properly set up

· Attend all employee scheduled meeting

· Inspect restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies and ensure restroom is always kept clean.

Skills & Abilities

· Able to lift to 20 pounds.

· Actively listen to customers by giving full attention to what other people are saying

· Must demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to guest satisfaction

· Organized with the ability to execute tasks accurately and quickly

· Ability to manipulate register system and handle/serve food.

· Basic written and verbal communication skills

· Excellent organizational skills

· Ability to work as a team member or individually

· Open Table and Cash Handling

· Excellent customer service with impeccable interpersonal skills

· Friendly and professional demeanor when answering the phone

· Flexibility when working alternating shifts and actively look for ways to help people

Education

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience

At least six (6) months experience in customer service

· Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

· Oral Communication - Ability to communicate effectively with others in a respectful manner

· Problem Solving - Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.

· Technical Aptitude - Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.

· Working Under Pressure - Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations

 

Computer/Technical Skills

Able to operate a tablet, and cash register, if needed

Physical Demands

 Able to walk and or stand for long periods of time
