Job Description - Private Chef

PRIVATE CHEF FOR TRIBECA FAMILY RESPONSIBILITES & JOB DESCRIPTION:


  • ● Creating fresh seasonal meals for family of five (2 adults & 3 children) including extended family and guests, as needed


  • ● Catering to the culinary needs of the family through specialty-crafted cuisine, utilizing good quality ingredients, local produce, sustainably raised proteins and in-season veggies & fruits.


  • ● Pescatarian/ Lacto- Ovo Vegetarian dietary requirements

● One of the children has a severe nut allergy – ONLY ALMONDS AND PEANUTS

ARE OK - NO NUT products outside of almonds and peanuts are allowed in the

home and all cooking must be nut-free


  • ● Must be able to prepare savory as well as dessert/sweet/baked foods.


  • ● Grocery shopping including supply procurement & provisioning; sourcing only the


    freshest and seasonal ingredients.


  • ● Inventory management of cooking supplies.


  • ● Cooking for social gatherings, family parties, business events, office meals, etc.


    (Ranging from small informal to large formal)


  • ● Traveling with the family to their secondary residences


  • ● Preparation of “to go” or travel meals as needed (**note for airplane meals as well)


  • Maintaining an impeccable and well-organized kitchen, pantry, and appliances,


    including cleanliness, safety and kitchen tool maintenance.


  • ● Paying attention to employer's intolerances for specific ingredients and other special dietary requirements


  • ● Keeping mindful of noise during quiet hours (children's bedtime, meetings, etc.)


  • ● NYC schedule: 5 days a week- lunch & dinner, some lunches delivered to their office (8


    minutes from residence)


  • ● Live-out when working in NYC (accommodation provided when traveling)


  • ● NYC: leaving food in the fridge for the weekend or reheat meals for dinner service


  • ● Flexibility with scheduling including travel, evenings, weekends, holidays, as needed and


    requested.


  • ● Excellent references required from previous employers


    DESIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • ● Degree from accredited culinary school preferred, though not required


  • ● Knowledge of fresh healthy global cuisine and tasty meals focused on Vegetarian/


    Pescatarian


  • ● Minimum of 3 years' experience required as a private chef for a family


  • ● Exceptional regimented skills and dedication to responsibilities.


  • ● Must love kids: 3 children 7, 9, & 11 years old


    WORKING AGREEMENT & BENEFITS:


  • ● Competitive salary offered, based on level of experience


  • ● Medical, dental, vision insurance


  • ● Salary paid weekly


  • ● Paid vacation 2 weeks (10 days) taken when the principal is traveling


  • ● Major holidays paid but might be flexible


  • ● Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)


  • ● Must be able to work in the US


  • ● Valid driver's license with good driving record


    To note about the family:


    The family prefers healthy, fresh meals that are consistently high in protein, low in sugars, and low in fats (healthy fats ok). Seasonal produce is preferable, organic when possible. Complex carbs are acceptable in very limited quantities, but the adults generally avoid gluten and starchy carbohydrates.


    Only healthy oils should be used for cooking (olive and avocado) and other vegetable oils should be avoided.


    Chef should be comfortable with and experienced in sourcing high-quality, organic, sustainable foods and be excited to create healthy, flavorful meals from across the globe every day. Flavor, spices, and variety in offerings are encouraged. The family loves international foods from all cultures: Indian, Mediterranean, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese and Middle Eastern cuisine are favorites.


    For reference, the family's favorite restaurants include Marc Forgione, Nobu, and all of Jean-Georges' restaurants.


    Creativity and flexibility are key – They are looking for a talented chef that will be able to make sticking to a healthy eating plan fresh and interesting. Please keep in mind that high protein content in all meals is key.


    Ability to be able to cook simple, tasty & healthy dishes for the children is essential.
