Job Description - SL Sr. Special Events Planner

Melaleuca is positioned to grow even more rapidly in upcoming years. To help keep up with this growth we are looking for an outstanding Events Planner.

Plan and coordinate corporate and community events. Must ensure each event is successful to impact growth and manage costs.

Essential

  • Able to multi-task to coordinate several events at once.
  • Remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Negotiates well and can find ways to reduce expenses, while maintain positive relationships with vendors.
  • Work with the marketing team to create materials that promote the event.
  • Communicates with vendors, hotels, and other outside businesses on a regular basis.
  • Schedules meetings and events.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment (i.e. scanner, fax machine, photocopier, etc.).
  • Operates telephone system (i.e., forwarding calls, holding calls, etc.).
  • Able to prepare proposals professionally, which are reviewed by immediate supervisor.
  • Intermittent travel is required.

Essential

  • Demonstrates leadership ability.
  • Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and company marketing plan.
  • 30 wpm typing.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of AV.
  • Strong detailed work and organizational skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems and create solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on projects.
  • Ability to work on multiple events at the same time.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive areas.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creativity skills.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Sit with intermittent walking.
  • Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, writing, etc.
  • Communicate (hearing & speech) with individuals in person and by phone.
  • Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Good math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
  • Strong customer relation skills for conflict situations.

 

Additional

  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Work overtime as needed, some weekends and holidays required.
