If you are an ENGINEERING STUDENT looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our SIDNEY, OHIO location, you will provide detailed testing support for our HVAC/R Technologies Laboratories. You will work from operational, manual, and verbal instructions to operate laboratory test equipment with supervision.

AS A APPRENTICE TECHNICIAN, YOU WILL:

• Adhere to all corporate and laboratory safety standards and policies
• Install compressors to test stands to test performance
• Manipulate average to heavy weights (up to 50 lbs.), standing for extended periods of time, use of hand tools, and brazing equipment.
• Work in a team environment.
• Demonstrate conscientious and ambitious behavior.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

WHO YOU ARE:
You will take what you have learned about the HVAC/R program at school and apply it to the apprentice technician role. You will show a good work ethic and be able to communicate with other technicians and engineers. You will learn how to test compressors and be able to explain how a calorimeter operates at the end of your term.



REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Must meet all UVCC requirements to be eligible for the apprenticeship
• Basic HVAC/R knowledge used in Refrigeration or Air Conditioning applications
• Basic Mechanical skills. Able to use hand tools
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good computer skills
• Ability to support periodic travel as needed Legal Authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Willingness to learn how the compressor and test equipment work
• Engage with Engineers to learn why the compressors are being tested

The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for the air conditioning and cold chain businesses. Through our 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our air conditioning-related products help bring comfort and convenience to commercial, industrial, and residential spaces. The cold chain business helps ensure that food safely and efficiently travels from farm to fork. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions.
